Cows are ruminants. So are sheep, goats, buffalo, deer, elk, giraffes, and camels! They have four parts to their stomachs! They chew, chew, and chew some more. We do this chewing sometimes with thoughts we go over, over, and over again . . . it's called rumination . . . While it's good for the cow, we NEED to be more "in the now." Rumination keeps you in the past. "I shoulda, coulda, woulda" . . . spit it out or swallow it, but somehow, MOOOOOOve on🐮 #focusonthesolutionNOTtheproblem #mrsbroamhats #chewingcudisforcows #youcandohardthings @phescougars

Blooming with Kindness
Need Kindness? Start a Kindness Journal. If you look for it, you will find it! Need some ideas for ways to be kind? I learned these in my yoga therapy class this month! Smaller Kindnesses: compliment someone, write a heartfelt thank you, let someone go ahead in line, encourage someone having a bad day, pick up trash that isn't yours Larger Kindnesses: grocery shopping for someone, help someone move, make dinner for an ill friend, write a letter sharing why someone is important to you, make cookies for a new neighbor -- How have you shared kindness today? #bekind #lifelonglearner #mrsbroamhats #bloomingwithkindness @phescougars

Have a Nice Daisy!
Pulling Weeds and Planting Flowers: " . . . your brain preferentially scans for, registers, stores, recalls, and reacts to unpleasant experiences . . . it's like Velcro for negative experiences and Teflon for positive ones."~Buddha's Brain, p. 68 So PULL the weeds and PLANT the flowers! "When negative material arises, bring to mind the positive emotions and perspectives that will be its antidote." Really let the pleasant feelings sink in."Add the power of language by saying something like this to yourself: I got through all that, I'm still here, and many people love me. You won't forget what happened, but its emotional charge will steadily diminish."~Buddha's Brain, p. 74 Have a nice DAISY! #mrsbroamhats #lifelonglearner @phescougars

RULE #1
During the orientation for my yoga therapy school program this past fall (Maryland University of Integrative Health), the program director said, "RULE #1 - DON'T PANIC!" She reiterates this often . . . I think it applies more than going back to school . . . If you are feeling stressed (when your demands exceed your resources), try these positive ways to manage the overload: deep breathing, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g, meditation, listening to music, exercise, going for a walk, taking a bath/shower, sitting outside, time with friends, relaxing, writing, drawing😊 #youcandoit #selfcare #putYOURoxygenmaskonFIRST #youCANdohardthings #youAREdoinghardthings #youdoNOThavetolikethehardthingyoudo #youGOTthis #wearestrongerTOGETHER #mrsbroamhats @phescougars

Cinco de Mayo
"Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Wednesday, May 5 in 2021, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations."~https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/cinco-de-mayo #mrsbroamhats @phescougars
