Aardvark Fun

Aardvarks live in eastern and southern Africa. They are yellow-brown and covered with brown hairs. An adult aardvark weighs about 100 pounds. During the day, an aardvark finds a deep hole and sleeps curled up in a tight ball. At night, aardvarks tear termite mounds apart with their strong claws and lick up termites with their long sticky tongues (Creative Teaching Press' Celebrate December, 1991).  Do you want to be friends with an aardvark???

Thank you, James Hersch, for the inspiration!!!

Fruity on Wednesday

I'm going back to school to learn how to improve my work with students in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades!  Last night I read in my text book:

Kind hearts, the garden;
Kind thoughts, the root;
Kind words, the blossoms;
Kind deeds, the fruit.

Students who can express kindness are happier and more productive in the classroom. p. 20, George S. Morrison’s Early Childhood Education Today

How does your garden grown on Wednesday?

Here's how to be a banana with your body:
ROOT your feet and s-t-r-e-t-c-h your arms over head.  Circle your fingers around the opposite wrist and s-t-r-e-t-c-h up and over.  Keep the chest open and create space in the side body so you can breathe better and be more ready for whatever you've got to do next.  If your strengthen the muscles in the fingers,  you'll feel more of a s-t-r-e-t-c-h.  Try it on the other side!

If you want to SING about bananas, try this song:

It's one of Mrs. Broam's favs.  :-)

Be FRUITY on Wednesday!

Corny on Tuesday

Somebody at my house ordered from http://www.philosophersguild.com/, and I've been enjoying an intriguing calendar that arrived in the December mail!  On today's date, 1/17/17, it reads:

Procrastination Day
(formerly January 16)

What project do you need to get on today?
Are you procrastinating or being proactive?
Take a deep breath and GIT 'ER DONE!

a couple of Buffalo Gals

Thanks to Mrs. Mitchum for my new "buffalo hat!"  I was thinking we'd celebrate "the sky was not cloudy all day!" But maybe it's another traditional American song we should sing?

Tricksters on Thursday

Tricksters are characters who "show up to upset the apple cart?!"  Through their disregard for the way things have always been done, new, and sometimes better, ways of thinking develop.  We played with the idea that some tricksters are good to have on your team vs. others cause us to be on "high alert!"  Do you know Anansi, Brer Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, Reynard the Fox or Nanabozho? Thank you, Mira Binzen, for challenging our brains, bodies and hearts on Thursday!

Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL morning!

What are you thankful for on Wednesday?  We enjoyed another beautiful, beautiful sunrise today while on morning duty!  One kiddo said it was a "Clemson Sunrise!"
I am thankful the weather will not be so "wintery" during the next few days!  Gratitude improves our health, relationships, emotions, personality, sleep . . . have some today!!!

In Disney's Frozen, Olaf the snowman says, "I don't know why but I've always loved the idea of summer, and sun, and all things hot . . . " You and me, Olaf.  You and me.  We're thinking warm thoughts on a Friday!
