Planting the Promise

Wear RED Day!  The school counselors (Mrs. Burritt, Mrs. Broam, & Mrs. M-C) encouraged students to plant the promise of healthy choices today!  Thanks to Mrs. M-C for coordinating the addition to our red tulip bed.  It's now in the shape of ribbon!  We'll look forward to the blooms in the spring as a reminder how our healthy choices have a beautiful reward.  Thanks to the Watch D.O.G.S. who helped today. Thanks to ALL who helped celebrate RED RIBBON WEEK and will continue to do so by making healthy choices!

SOCK IT to UNHEALTHY CHOICES

Who says you just wear the CRAZY SOCKS on your feet?  Thanks to this Cougar for his great idea!!  Squids will be squids!  Happy Red Ribbon Week!

Is a web a TRICK or TREAT?

Last night the world wide web was a trick!  I was tangled up in trying to connect unsuccessfully .  .  .

Thank goodness for a fantastic baseball game to pull me through the knotted evening?!  How flexible are you when you encounter tangles?  Here's some fun we had navigating webs.  If we practice flexibility we can strengthen the bendability of our bodies and MINDS!  Is a web a TRICK or TREAT?  YES!

Pumpkin Boppers

YAY for a new hat!  Thank you to a special PHES Cougar who decorated Mrs. Broam's head today!
Did you know stretching your face like a jack-o-lantern relieves tension in your jaw?  Some folks hold their not-so-great feelings there.  Smiling like a jack-o-lantern is one way to move that stress.  Here's some more jack-o-lantern faces to try:

Who is in your Web of Support?  Those grown ups who love you and can help solve a problem make up your Web of Support.  Mrs. Broam is available!  Who else can you talk to when you need to talk?

It's a DINOmite Wednesday!

What you think about it, you bring about!  If T-Rex hates chaturangas, chances are he'll never have a good time trying one!  Mrs. Broam welcomes a challenge.  Take a DINO BITE outta that negative thinking.  Change up how you think about it, and it'll turn up the corners of your mouth!

BATTY on Tuesday

If you're BATTY on a Tuesday,
maybe spend some time upside down?
Sometimes a different perspective helps us view a challenge in new way!

Today we read Vulture View by April Pulley Sayre!  Every critter has a way to make the world a better place.  Thank goodness the vulture is on clean up!  We moved like the sun, a vulture and a tree with this story.  Keep BREATHING!  Keep MOVING!  Look ALIVE on Monday.

Word of the Day -- ENTHUSIASTIC

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  Lyddie had to be "enthusiastic" for Dictionary Day today!  She decided to be an exclamation point! She's made her mark.  :-)

And the family tradition continues . . .

NO BONES about it!

Yesterday was HUMP DAY!

GG's Fun

My Grandma Rawls, or "GG" as my children called her, dressed up when she volunteered at Lexington Extended Care and my school library.  This is one of her outfits.  Sportin' a silly hat is a family tradition!

"It's FALL, y'all!"

Tomorrow night we'll celebrate the Fall Festival at PHES, 6:00-8:00!  We've enjoyed the beautiful fall weather.  It should be a PLEASANT evening on the HILL.  Not so blustery as the characters on my jumper show .  .  .

Today are you Tigger or Eyeore?  Is the glass half full or half empty?  When the moon is FULL we have to dig a little deeper to find our Tiggers .  .  .  Happy Fall, Y'all!

Tune into Fall!

Tune into Fall!  It's in the air!  What do you hear?  Close your eyes and concentrate on the sounds of the season!  A little "quiet time" helps your brain process all the learning and all the experiences you've enjoyed.  Give yourself some "silence" today so you can be your best self.

Colorful Friday

It's COLORFUL Friday!  Today we thought about our emotions as colors.  If you thought about the color blue for "sad," you might have a strong, deep blue shade of the feeling-- for example, "distraught" or a light blue shade of the feeling--like when you feel a little "down."  ALL FEELINGS are okay. We just need to move unpleasant feelings in an okay way.  Sometimes we can't move an unpleasant feeling all the way to a pleasant one.  Sometimes we strive for one shade up--talk to a friend--one shade up, take a deep breath--one shade up, go for a walk--one shade up, etc.  Eventually we move the unpleasant feeling to a pleasant one, one shade at a time.

Skunkiness

Sometimes life is "stinky!"  What CAN you do?  You are in charge of your thinking, where you look, what you say, how you feel and what you do.  So "tune in" to your stinkin' thinkin' and turn it around!  Need some help?  Talk to someone.  Draw a picture.  Go for a walk.  BREATHE.  Read a book.  Listen to music.  What else CAN you do to be an active participant in your own rescue?
