Cinco de Mayo
Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day! Be sure to thank a teacher or share some gratitude for someone who taught you something you did not know . . .
It's also Cinco de Mayo! Outside of Puebla, Mexico, this is not such a big deal in Mexico. It is celebrated in the United States and other countries to honor Mexican heritage, culture, pride, and unity! The celebration includes dancing, colorful dress, music, and good food. On this day in 1862, Mexico was victorious in the Battle of Puebla against the French. 4,000 Mexican soldiers defeated 6,000 French soldiers! This day is not to be confused with Mexico's Independence Day which is September 16.
It's TACO TUESDAY!🌮 Let's move and breathe to celebrate Cinco de Mayo together! Stand tall in MOUNTAIN POSE. The Sierra Madre Mountain System runs along the Gulf of California, northwest to southeast, in the northwestern and western part of Mexico.
Be a TRIANGLE to represent the Mexican flag! "Yo Soy Fuerte" -- "I Am Strong"
Balance in DANCER POSE to celebrate the day! "Yo Soy Valiente" -- "I Am Brave"
Put on a sombrero [DOWN DOG]!
Have a taco [BOAT POSE]! Do you prefer chicken, beef, or bean?
Add a bit of guacamole [WIDE LEGGED FOLD} -- YUM🥑
Wrap your fun with a siesta! You can rest your legs up the wall or lay out on your mat. If your low back is scrunchy, you can bend your knees, bring them together while taking your feet wide. Rest and remember the bright colors, the music, the good food, and other parts of this flavorful day.🌮
