Got balance?

Here's one of the tricks I learned this weekend!  Can you balance a peacock feather on the tip of your finger?  Practicing balance sharpens focus and concentration skills.  You have to be paying attention to the task "at hand" to git 'er done!  You wobble and move about, but your brain is zeroed in on the challenge.  This is how we approach our tasks at school.  We focus, concentrate, and git 'er done!  There are plenty of distractions  .  .  .  but we stay with the current job, getting stronger and smarter with every effort.  Got balance?

And here's two more great stories for the feathered fun. I had a kiddo panicking today, really working herself up and the feather balancing act distracted her from "what might happen" and brought her back to the present moment. It was a beautiful thing! The second is I used a class set of feathers with a class of first graders. Later they had to write about "a small moment in time." Many chose to write about balancing a feather! The teacher said she'd been having difficulty teaching the concept . . . I love when as SIMPLE idea has a BIG impact!
